Another Season of Battle of the Books! |
Greetings! I hope everyone had a blessed holiday. With our first half week back, we are officially getting into the swing of things. Last week, I asked any fifth grader who thought they might be interested in Battle of the Books to write their name on a sign-up sheet for me. I had several students interested. A letter will be coming home to give you more information about Battle of the Books. For those of you who don't know much about it, it is a Scholar Bowl-like competition. Students who choose to participate have a list of twenty books, and from that list they are expected to read as many as possible or even all of the books. At three separate meets, they will compete against other fifth grade students from three other Catholic schools. In theory, the more books a student reads from the list, the better prepared they will be for the meets. Mrs. Hinson and I both work with the students. She focuses more on the six graders and I on the fifth graders. The students really seem to enjoy it. If they have signed up as interested, I recommend they start reading from the list as soon as possible. When the time comes to commit, I hope to have enough students for two teams! If you have any questions you can contact me or Mrs. Hinson.

Students remember to look through your Friday Folder and find a paper you are proud of. Then bring it to me, so it can go on our Wall of Fame! Let's get it filled up! |
