Hello Parents!
I hope your Christmas Season was wonderful and relaxing. Hard to believe, but we're back at school hard at work! As I write this column, January is midway through and Catholic Schools Week is about to begin. Here is an overview of all the amazing things your child will be learning about this quarter!
Sixth Grade
Sixth grade is beginning some massive lessons on Greek and Roman history. The Greeks are my favorite civilization in ancient history, so I hope some of that enthusiasm will be contagious! By the end of the nine weeks, your children should be able to tell you about Athens, Sparta, the beginning of democracy, and the differences between the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire!
Seventh Grade
Seventh Grade is entering the 20th century of Kansas History with a look at the hard times the state went through in the 1920's. We will wrap up KS History with a look at the KS state symbols before plunging into geography and some lessons in US History that will help them build a foundation for 8th grade!
By the end of the nine weeks, your children should be able to tell you all about the history of KS, and should be able to locate countries in Europe and beyond!
Eighth Grade
The Eighth grade is wrapping our conversations on the Reconstruction period and learning about the final phases of the Wild West, the Indian Wars, and Manifest Destiny!
By the end of the nine weeks, your children should be able to tell you all about the latter half of the 19th century!
State Assessments for 6th and 8th grade in Social Studies are coming up fast! The students are working hard to ensure they are up to the challenge! |
